Emergency Information
While there are several wildfires and widespread smoke across British Columbia, there are no wildfires of concern close to Golden. The density of smoke changes from day to day, and these conditions may change depending on where you choose to recreate around Golden.
On August 18 the Province of British Columbia declared a provincial state of emergency to support ongoing response and recovery efforts caused by wildfire. This State of emergency does not include any travel restrictions at this time. See the latest updates here.

Road conditions are constantly changing with conditions and closures. Always check conditions and know your route before you go.
DriveBC is the best resource for highway conditions in British Columbia, they have live webcams and consistent updates.
There is construction on the TransCanada Highway 1 east of Golden with nightly closures and delays, check the Kicking Horse Construction Calendar to see the times/dates that the highway is closed.
